The Green sits in its own valley on the edge of the moor, a few minutes out of Liskeard, with 360-degree views and no neighbours to speak of. It was a working dairy farm. The wedding barn is the old milking parlour — Cornish stone, slate roof, original beams and whitewashed walls — and the whole place has been converted around weddings rather than bolted onto something else.
What that gives a The Green Cornwall wedding photographer is unusual: three genuinely different ceremony settings, two very different reception rooms, and a valley that changes colour for about forty minutes every clear evening. Very few Cornish venues give you that much variety without leaving the site.
And because forty-odd people sleep here, nobody leaves at half past ten to find a taxi. The evening at The Green runs longer than almost anywhere else I shoot.

The Oak Arbour
Outdoors, looking down the valley, with trees behind it. Photographically it is the best of the three and it is not close. The trees break the light so it is dappled rather than flat, nobody in the front row is squinting, and the background behind you is countryside instead of sky. If the forecast allows it, marry here.
The Wedding Barn
The old milking parlour. Stone, beams, whitewashed walls and glass balustrades, seating up to 140. Darker and warmer than outside, and much more atmospheric — the sort of room where one window doing the work beats a bright one. It is also the answer when Cornwall does what Cornwall does.
The Green Room
The third option, indoors, and worth asking about if your numbers are smaller. Between the three of them there is no weather that cancels a ceremony here, which matters more than couples expect when they are booking a September or October date in Cornwall.

The forty minutes every The Green Cornwall wedding photographer waits for
This is the single most useful thing a The Green Cornwall wedding photographer can tell you, and it decides your timeline.
The site faces down its own valley with nothing built between you and the far side. Late in the day the sun drops behind that ridge and the whole bowl fills with low, warm light for roughly forty minutes. Shoot into it and the grass goes gold; turn round and everybody is lit softly from the side with no hard shadows anywhere.
Forty minutes is not long. It is why I plan backwards from sunset rather than forwards from the ceremony, and why I will ask you to protect fifteen minutes around eight o’clock in the summer rather than at any other point in the evening. If your speeches are overrunning, I will quietly find whoever is running the room.
The veil caught the wind and I kept shooting. Fifteen minutes is plenty when you are not building set-ups.
And then blue hour outside, which at The Green goes on and on because nobody has to drive home.
Confetti, and where it works here
Confetti is over in eight seconds and it is the one moment a The Green Cornwall wedding photographer should take charge of, because it is very easy to waste.
At The Green I would do it on the path back from the arbour rather than out in the open, with the stone buildings behind you instead of sky. Two lines of guests, not a ring, everybody holding until you are properly into the gap, and you walking it slowly and not looking at me. Once, properly, and then everyone goes back to their drink.

Straight answers
Newquay, about an hour from Liskeard, and Essex for the south east. So The Green is home turf rather than a long haul, and travel is included in the price wherever the wedding is.
As a The Green Cornwall wedding photographer I would pick the arbour whenever the forecast allows — dappled light, no squinting, and countryside behind you rather than sky. The barn is warmer and more atmospheric, and it means no forecast can cancel your ceremony.
Three slots of fifteen minutes: after the ceremony, before dinner, and at sunset over the valley. In summer that last one is around eight o’clock and it is the one worth protecting in the timeline. Forty-five minutes in total, so you are never away from your guests for long.
No. Group shots if you want them, and those three short slots. If being photographed makes you uncomfortable, they become a walk and a conversation shot from a distance with a long lens. There is a whole page on how I work if you want the detail.
Then we use the barn, and you get a different set of photographs rather than fewer. Between the wedding barn and the Green Room nothing here has to be cancelled, and wet Cornish valleys photograph beautifully.
Yes — a farmhouse, five cottages and five hotel-style rooms, sleeping around 42, and you can have the place for up to three days. In practice it is why the evenings here run so much longer than at most venues.
A £500 retainer by card or bank transfer and a short contract you can read in five minutes. The balance is due four weeks before.
