What a Boringdon Hall wedding photographer is working with

Boringdon Hall in Plympton is a 16th-century Elizabethan-style manor house on the edge of Plymouth, now a hotel and spa that hosts weddings of all sizes.

The Great Hall, with its panelling, chandeliers and huge fireplace, takes up to 120 for a ceremony and up to 200 for dinner and dancing. The Elizabethan Suite seats 120 for the wedding breakfast with its own bar and dancefloor.

Photographing a Boringdon Hall wedding

The Great Hall is dramatic and dark-wooded, so I work with the window light and the chandeliers rather than harsh flash, which keeps the atmosphere of the room.

Outside, the old walls and the grounds give you textured backdrops for portraits a minute from the bar.

How I photograph a Boringdon Hall wedding

Boringdon Hall’s Great Hall is all wood, chandeliers and a huge fireplace, and a Boringdon Hall wedding photographer has to work with its low light rather than against it.

As your Boringdon Hall wedding photographer I use the old stone walls outside for textured portraits and keep the dancefloor lit just enough to hold the atmosphere.

Planning your Boringdon Hall wedding photography

Keep twenty minutes free before sunset for portraits in the grounds. In winter, plan them straight after the ceremony while there is still light.
