For venues, planners & coordinators

The photographer your team won’t have to manage

Nearly a thousand weddings. £5m of cover. Four primes, four bodies, and no one asking your staff to move furniture.

A wedding venue photographed from the air for the venue's own marketing

What you actually need to know

Most of what couples want from a photographer is irrelevant to you. You need to know I am insured, that I will not create work for your team, and that if something fails at 4pm the wedding still gets photographed. So here it is in one place, rather than buried in an FAQ.

Public liability£5m, with PhotoGuard. Professional indemnity included. Certificate sent on request, same day.
CamerasSony A9 III bodies, plus two A9 II bodies held as backup.
LensesPrimes only — 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm. Silent shutter all day, and no flash at all until the dancefloor.
Your power supplyNever used. Everything runs on battery, so there is nothing of mine to PAT test and no certificate for you to chase.
DataDual card slots recording simultaneously in every body, backed up again on site as the day runs.
If I were illCovered contractually, with second shooters I work with regularly who can step in. It has not happened once since 2009.
On the dayI arrive about three hours before the ceremony and stay until roughly 10pm. Unlimited hours, so nobody is watching a clock.
BehaviourSilent shutters, no lighting rigs, no furniture moved, no ceremony held up. Your staff will mostly not notice me.
CoveringThe South of England. Regularly in Cornwall, Devon, Essex, Kent, Suffolk, the Cotswolds and Hampshire.

An open offer: photographs of your venue, free, yours to use

Most venues have a marketing problem nobody talks about. You are photographed at forty weddings a year, and you have the rights to almost none of it. What you end up using is either a styled shoot from 2019 or whatever a couple kindly lets you repost.

So: any wedding I photograph at your venue, I will put together a gallery of your spaces and send it to you, licensed for your website, brochure and social media, at no cost and with no obligation to recommend me. Credit is all I ask.

It costs me an hour and it is worth considerably more than an hour to you. If that is useful, say so and I will start with the weddings I have already shot with you.

How I work with your team

  • I introduce myself when I arrive and find out who is running the day, then stay out of the way.
  • Group photographs are done in twenty to thirty minutes, off to one side, on a list agreed in advance — not forty minutes of shouting names across your lawn.
  • Confetti is the only thing I organise, and I ask your team where you would like it rather than deciding for you.
  • I do not move your furniture or restyle your tables. If a room is dressed, that is how it gets photographed.
  • I know your timings matter more than my pictures. If the kitchen needs to serve, we stop.
  • Couples get 100+ previews the next morning, which tends to mean your venue is being shared publicly within 24 hours of the wedding.

Venues I already know well

I have photographed weddings repeatedly at Gaynes Park, The Orangery, Braxted Park, Hengrave Hall, Swynford Manor, Gosfield Hall, Blake Hall, Apton Hall, Chalkney Water Meadows and Northbrook Park. In Cornwall I have photographed at The Green, Nancarrow Farm, Trevenna and the Headland, and I am adding more South West venues every season.

If you are not on that list and would like to be, that is rather the point of this page.

The day, from your side of it

Everything you would need to brief me, in one place. The short version: I photograph the day as it happens, so I need the ceremony time, the venue, and to be told when things move.

ArrivalAbout three hours before the ceremony, usually with the couple getting ready. If they are getting ready off-site I am at the venue well before the ceremony.
Group photographsHalf an hour, straight after confetti. Eight to ten combinations agreed with the couple beforehand. A patch of open shade near the drinks is ideal, and a hand gathering people is welcome.
The coupleThree slots of fifteen minutes — after the ceremony, before the meal is called, and at sunset. I will tell you the sunset time for the date; that is the one worth protecting.
The mealI photograph the room and the tables, then stand down while food is served. No table needed — wherever the suppliers eat is perfect.
SpeechesShot from the guests’ side as much as the top table. If they move, a nudge from you is all I need.
FinishThere is no coverage end time. I stay until the dancefloor has properly gone, usually around 10pm.
Kit footprintTwo cameras, one small bag. No tripods, no light stands, no flash during the ceremony. I work from the edges, not the aisle.
DroneOnly with the venue’s say-so. Flown briefly during the drinks reception, within CAA rules, never over guests, and covered by the insurance above. If you would rather not, that is the end of it.
On the dayCall or WhatsApp me on 07590 192914. I answer it myself.

The insurance certificate, without having to ask

£5 million public liability and professional indemnity, carried inside the price. The link below always serves the current certificate — it is generated from my records each time, so it is never the expired one from last season.

Checking a date for a client

You should not have to fill in a couple’s enquiry form to ask whether I am free. Put the date in and you will have the answer straight away.

Ask me anything else.

Whichever is more useful. If you would like the insurance certificate, a set of photographs of your venue, or simply to know whether I am any good before you put me on a list, get in touch and I will send whatever helps.
