Dorset Wedding Photographer

Your Dorset
wedding, as it actually happened.

Documentary. Natural. Cinematic.Documentary photography for couples marrying across Dorset — from clifftop ceremonies above the Jurassic Coast to manor houses hidden in the Dorset countryside. Natural, unposed, cinematic.

The approach

Real moments don't wait for a photographer to be ready.

My approach is documentary — I’m there to observe, anticipate and capture, not to direct. For most of the day you won’t know I’m shooting.

That said, I’m not invisible. Where a little guidance helps — finding the light for portraits, a quiet word before the first dance — I’ll offer it. Gently, briefly, and then I’m gone again. The photographs look natural because the moments were.

Dorset is one of England’s most quietly stunning counties — the Jurassic Coast, rolling chalk downland, ancient market towns. The light here in summer is extraordinary. It’s a photographer’s county.

Nearly 1,000 weddings in. Every single one documented the same way — exactly as it happened, as it actually felt.

Dorset wedding venues

Venues I love shooting in Dorset

From clifftop ceremonies above the Jurassic Coast to manor houses hidden in the Dorset countryside — I photograph weddings at some of the most beautiful venues in the county. If your venue isn't listed, get in touch.

Lulworth Castle

An 18th century castle overlooking Lulworth Cove and the Jurassic Coast. Exclusive use, dramatic backdrop, and some of the most extraordinary coastal light in England.

Forde Abbey

A 900-year-old Cistercian monastery with 30 acres of award-winning gardens on the Dorset/Somerset border. Utterly unique — ceremony in the Great Hall, photographs in the grounds.

Carey’s Manor

A beautiful country house hotel in the heart of the New Forest near Brockenhurst. Elegant, relaxed, and surrounded by ancient woodland with year-round natural beauty.

Athelhampton House

One of England’s finest medieval manor houses near Dorchester, with Grade I listed formal gardens. Intimate, historic, and full of the kind of character that makes photographs feel timeless.

The Grange at Oborne

A converted stone barn near Sherborne with exposed beams, natural light and beautiful walled gardens. Warm, characterful, and genuinely intimate — up to 120 guests.

Kingston Maurward

A stunning Georgian mansion near Dorchester with 35 acres of English Heritage gardens, a lake and sweeping parkland. One of Dorset’s most beautiful and photogenic venues.

What couples say
★★★★★

“I knew I had to have you as our photographer — and my husband said the next day ‘I now get it why we had to have him.’ Your photos are nothing short of amazing, and you’ve got a wicked sense of humour too.”

Lauren & Danny — Herefordshire

★★★★★

“After our initial consultation we knew we’d have no hesitation booking Matt. On the day he made us feel completely at ease, always there to anticipate the perfect shot. He truly immortalised our day.”

Mr & Mrs Danesi — Essex

★★★★★

“As two fairly awkward people who hate having photos taken, he was exactly the photographer we needed. In the nicest way possible we barely realised he was there — and the photos are extraordinary.”
