Suffolk keeps asking me back. I am not going to argue.
A Tudor hall outside Bury St Edmunds, a moated house near Debenham, barns in the middle of nowhere — wedding after wedding in this county, and not one of them looked like another.
The approach
Documentary wedding photography in Suffolk. Nothing staged.
I photograph the day as it actually happens, quietly, from close enough to hear the joke and far enough not to be in it. No group-photo marathon and nothing staged: a short family list, a few relaxed portraits with gentle direction, and the rest exactly as it happens.
What the county gives you
Plenty of weddings here, and no two of them alike.
That is the thing about Suffolk. Hengrave Hall many times — Tudor, stone, and big enough to take a group of any size without anyone getting lost. A moated house near Debenham where the couple ended up in a rowing boat. Barns with nothing but fields behind them. The county does not have a house style, and neither do the photographs.
It is also a short run over the border from Essex and Cambridgeshire, which is how I came to work here in the first place and why I keep coming back.
I photograph the whole day, from the quiet bit in the morning to the dancefloor. Nobody is counting hours, because I do not sell them.
I stay nearby the night before, so I am on site early and rested. The drive is never on your invoice.
