Nancarrow is a working organic farm in a hundred acres of rolling countryside near Zelah, run by the same family for nine generations. Weddings here are built around the barns, open fires and long feast tables, with food grown a few fields away.
It is a relaxed, weekend-long kind of wedding, and it photographs best when nobody tries to make it look like anything else.

The light at Nancarrow
There is very little between the farm and the western horizon, so the last half hour of light runs long and low across the grass. That is the slot I will ask you to protect for portraits, fifteen minutes, not an hour.
Inside, the barns are warm and dark in the best way. Firelight and festoons do most of the work in the evening, so I shoot quietly and without flash until the dancing starts.
Planning a Nancarrow Farm wedding timeline

In June the sun sets around 9.30pm in Cornwall, in September around 7.35pm and in December about 4.15pm, so the right time for golden-hour portraits moves a long way through the year. Farm weddings are relaxed by nature. Long tables, children running about, guests wandering off to look at the fields. That is exactly the kind of day that suits documentary photography.

The full gallery follows within sixteen weeks, and usually sooner: 800 or more photographs, every one edited by me, in a private online gallery your guests can view and download from. Full print rights are yours, so you can print them anywhere you like.
