What a Great Fulford wedding photographer is working with

Great Fulford near Dunsford has been home to the Fulford family for over 800 years. It is a Grade I listed house with medieval bones under centuries of panelling and plaster, and the family now open it for weddings to help look after it.

Most couples marry in the Ballroom under its plasterwork ceiling, come down the Great Staircase for drinks in the Great Hall, which seats around a hundred, and then have the wedding breakfast in the Great Parlour and Ante Room for up to 130.

Eight centuries of one family’s home, and your day added to its story.

Photographing a Great Fulford wedding

The panelled rooms are dark and full of character, so I work with the window light and let the rooms feel as they are, rather than flooding them with flash.

The courtyard, the staircase and the estate outside give you a real mix of settings in a short walk, which keeps portraits quick.

How I photograph a Great Fulford wedding

Great Fulford has a lovely route through a wedding day: married in the Ballroom, down the Great Staircase to drinks in the Great Hall, then dinner in the Great Parlour. A Great Fulford wedding photographer should be waiting at the foot of those stairs.

As your Great Fulford wedding photographer I work with the old panelling and window light rather than heavy flash, and step out to the courtyard and the estate for portraits.

Planning your Great Fulford wedding photography

Old houses can be dark by late afternoon in winter, so for a winter wedding plan portraits early. In summer, keep twenty minutes free before sunset for the grounds.

Not at all, you are in good company: most of my couples feel the same. I give a little direction when it helps and let everything else happen naturally.
