What a Hotel Endsleigh wedding photographer is working with

Hotel Endsleigh sits in the Tamar Valley near Tavistock, on the Devon and Cornwall border. It was built as a hunting lodge for the Duke and Duchess of Bedford and is now a Grade I listed hotel in 108 acres of woodland, with gardens, follies and grottoes.

It hosts everything from elopements to exclusive-use weddings of up to around 180 with a marquee, and the nineteen bedrooms make it easy to turn the wedding into a weekend.

Woodland, follies and the river below: a proper fairytale setting.

Photographing a Hotel Endsleigh wedding

The gardens and woods are made for wandering, with paths, follies and views down to the river. A short walk away from the party is enough to find somewhere quiet.

Inside, the house is relaxed and full of character, with lovely window light for the morning.

How I photograph a Hotel Endsleigh wedding

Hotel Endsleigh is all woodland, follies and paths down towards the river. A Hotel Endsleigh wedding photographer should be happy to wander a little, because the best corners here are a few minutes from the house.

As your Hotel Endsleigh wedding photographer I plan portraits a little before sunset, since the valley loses the light earlier than open ground, and photograph the house’s relaxed rooms for the morning and the meal.

Planning your Hotel Endsleigh wedding photography

The valley can lose the sun earlier than open ground, so plan portraits a little before sunset. For a two-day exclusive use wedding, the arrival day is great for relaxed photos too.
