What a Kitley House wedding photographer is working with

Kitley House is a historic manor house near Yealmpton in the South Hams, on a private estate of around 600 acres of parkland and woodland that runs down to the Yealm estuary and a lake. It is now an exclusive-use wedding venue.

Ceremonies can be inside for up to 100 guests, in the Regency Room, the Library, the Morning Room or the Banquet Hall, or outside on the Island by the lake and in the summerhouse by the fountain garden. Evening receptions take up to 150.

A lake, an old house and a quiet estate that is all yours for the day.

Photographing a Kitley House wedding

The lake is the heart of it. A lakeside ceremony on the Island gives you water and trees in every direction, and the parkland is big enough to find quiet corners for portraits without going far.

Inside, the old rooms have lovely window light for the morning and the speeches, so I work without flash until the dancing starts.

How I photograph a Kitley House wedding

Kitley is built around its lake, with ceremonies on the Island or in the summerhouse by the fountain garden. A Kitley House wedding photographer here should know how the light moves across the water through the day.

As your Kitley House wedding photographer I use the lakeside paths for portraits and the old rooms inside for the morning and the speeches, keeping walks short on a big estate.

Planning your Kitley House wedding photography

Keep twenty minutes free before sunset for a walk by the lake. If you are thinking about an outdoor ceremony, ask the venue about a wet weather option inside.

We hate having our photo taken. Is that a problem?

Not at all, you are in good company: most of my couples feel the same. I give a little direction when it helps and let everything else happen naturally.
