Tewinbury Wedding Photographer
A working family farm beside the River Mimram, with a seventeenth-century Tythe Barn and rooms, huts and cabins for everyone to stay. £2,500 all in.

What a Tewinbury wedding photographer is working with
Tewinbury, often still called Tewin Bury Farm, is a family farm near Welwyn in Hertfordshire, running across around 700 acres beside the River Mimram. It started as a dairy farm in the 1930s and grew into a hotel and wedding venue, and it still has that farm feel.
The Tythe Barn is the heart of most weddings: a seventeenth-century barn with exposed beams, a mezzanine balcony and big doors opening onto a riverside garden. It holds up to around 160 for the ceremony and dinner and 250 in the evening. There is accommodation across the farm, from farmhouse rooms to lakeside huts and woodland cabins.
Old beams, a river at the bottom of the garden, and everyone staying the night.

The light at Tewinbury
The first thing a Tewinbury wedding photographer notices is the barn doors. When they are open, soft daylight pours across the Tythe Barn, which is lovely for the ceremony and dinner, and the mezzanine balcony gives a different angle on the room.
Outside, the riverside garden and the farmland beyond are the backdrop for portraits, and the garden is where your guests will gather with a drink after the ceremony.

Evening light across open farmland.

Drone, where permitted, is included.
How I photograph a Tewinbury wedding
Documentary first, but not rigid: family group photos from your list, three short portrait sessions with gentle direction, and as much or as little posing as you want. The rest of the day I am in the background, photographing it as it actually happens.
As your Tewinbury wedding photographer I keep group photos to around half an hour, usually in the riverside garden, from a list we agree in advance. The three portrait slots are about fifteen minutes each: after the ceremony, before dinner and in the evening light.
I have photographed a wedding at Tewinbury, so I know the Tythe Barn, the garden and how the day moves around the farm.
Planning your Tewinbury wedding day
Because so many guests can stay on the farm, a Tewinbury wedding tends to be relaxed from start to finish, which suits documentary photography perfectly.
A few things I would suggest to any couple booking a Tewinbury wedding photographer. Keep the barn doors open for the ceremony if the weather allows. Leave a relaxed hour in the riverside garden before anyone is called for photographs. And keep fifteen minutes free in the evening for the fields, when the light is low across the farm.
Everything else we talk through properly a few weeks before, when I help you with the timeline.

“He made sure the focus was on us both enjoying the day, so ensured that the photo sessions were quick and efficient so we were able to rejoin the party!”
