A note on the photos: I have not photographed a wedding at Treseren yet, so as your Treseren wedding photographer I am showing pictures from other weddings of mine. When I photograph one here, they will be replaced.

What a Treseren wedding photographer is working with

Treseren is a Georgian country house in the countryside at St Newlyn East, a few miles inland from Newquay. It is built around small weddings: elopements for two, and micro weddings of up to 22 people, with the whole house to yourselves and up to 12 of you staying over.

That scale changes everything about the photographs. There is no crowd to manage and no timetable to fight, so the day can be slow, close and personal, which is exactly how documentary photography works best.

Where you can marry at Treseren

Outside, ceremonies happen beneath a centuries-old walnut tree or under a moongate arch on the front lawn. Inside, the Wedding Room and the Drawing Room give you a warm, intimate space for the cooler months.

With so few guests, portraits can happen anywhere in the house and gardens, and nobody has to leave the party for long because the party is only ever a few steps away.

How I photograph a Treseren wedding

A Treseren wedding is small by design, so the Treseren wedding photographer you choose has to be comfortable in a room of twenty people without becoming the twenty-first guest. I stay close enough to catch the toasts in the Drawing Room and far enough back that nobody performs for the camera.

As your Treseren wedding photographer I plan portraits around the walnut tree and the moongate in the garden and keep them short, because with so few guests every minute you are away is noticed. With everyone staying in the house, the morning after is often worth an hour too.

Nothing staged, just how it felt.

Planning your Treseren wedding photography

For an elopement at Treseren, think about the light rather than the clock: late afternoon ceremonies under the walnut tree give you soft light and golden hour straight afterwards. For micro weddings, a long lunch works beautifully, with portraits before the evening.

If you are eloping, you still need the legal side sorted, so have a look at my guide to eloping in Cornwall. There is more about Cornish weddings on my Cornwall wedding photographer page.

Straight answers

Is Treseren good for an elopement?

It is built for them. Ceremonies are licensed for up to 22 guests, the house is exclusive use, and there are indoor and outdoor options whatever the weather.

Where are the best photos at Treseren?

The walnut tree and the moongate on the front lawn, the Drawing Room for quiet moments, and the surrounding countryside at golden hour.

How much is a Treseren wedding photographer?

It is £2,000 for the whole day, with nothing added on: no hour limits, at least 800 edited photos, a first set of 100+ the next morning, drone shots where the venue allows and an online gallery to share. I am based in Cornwall, so there is no travel charge.

We hate having our photo taken. Is that a problem?

Not at all, you are in good company: most of my couples feel the same. I give a little direction when it helps and let everything else happen naturally.
