Cooling Castle Barn at a glance
Cooling Castle Barn is a sole-use barn wedding venue in the village of Cooling, near Rochester in Kent. You can marry indoors in the Fathom Barn, outside in the garden Pavilion, or at the village church a short stroll away. The Tithe Barn hosts the wedding breakfast and evening party. The venue holds up to 160 guests for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, and up to 250 in the evening. Close family and friends can stay in 15 en-suite bedrooms on site. Food comes from the venue’s own kitchen, and drinks come from its own bar.
From the first meeting with Holly and Ross, I knew this was a wedding I wanted as they both had a great attitude towards the wedding and how the day would go. I felt we instantly clicked as Holly was used to being in front of a camera, as her highly popular fashion blog shows, and Ross, well Ross liked football.
A quick planning meeting a few days prior confirmed their laid-back approach, you’d never have believed they had a wedding coming up if you’d spoken to them! The big day arrived and Cooling Castle Barn looked as good as always. Even the famous neighbour came out and joined in the fun! Great weather and a great day followed.
Holly and Ross are a great couple who made my job of documenting the day very easy indeed. I wish them both every success and happiness in the future.

Photographing a Cooling Castle Barn wedding
Cooling Castle Barn has corners everywhere, which is great for documentary photos. Holly got ready in the bridal room, and some of my favourite morning pictures were taken through its windows. After the ceremony came confetti outside, then couple portraits around the barns in the September sun. Inside, the cake cutting and first dance give you warm, lively pictures. Holly and Ross were so relaxed that it made my job very easy.
