Gosfield Hall at a glance

Gosfield Hall, once a royal palace, is an exclusive-use wedding venue at Gosfield near Halstead in Essex, with one wedding held per day. Indoors, ceremonies are licensed in Queen Charlotte’s oak-panelled gallery, where dual-aspect windows light a 120-foot aisle, and in the Grand Salon under a hand-painted ceiling. Outdoors, the original carriageway is licensed too. The Marquis of Buckingham’s former ballroom seats up to 116 for dinner, 250 can come for the evening, and there are 23 bedroom suites, including the Rococo Honeymoon Suite.

Photographing a spring wedding at Gosfield Hall

Emily and Michael married in April 2019, with their ceremony in the Long Room at Gosfield Hall, and it was a joy to be part of. A ceremony in a room like that has real presence, with family either side of the aisle and space for me to work quietly without getting in the way. From there I followed the day as it happened, through the reception and into the evening, documenting it rather than directing it.

Gosfield Hall wedding questions

If you are looking for a Gosfield Hall wedding photographer, my approach is relaxed and documentary. I stay in the background through the morning preparations, the ceremony and the speeches, so the moments you remember are the ones you see in the gallery. Group photographs are kept quick and organised, which means you are back with your guests as soon as possible.
