A Primrose Hill Farm wedding in the last week of July, with the Oxfordshire countryside baked to gold. Louise & George married in the farm’s white-panelled barn — sage-green bridesmaids, trailing greenery overhead — then walked straight out into fields that looked like they’d been art-directed for the occasion.
Primrose Hill Farm at a glance
Primrose Hill Farm is a family-run, contemporary barn venue at Arlescote, near Banbury. Three modern barns, converted from old hay barns, give a dedicated ceremony barn, a dining barn with a central bar, and the Orchard Barns for getting ready, with a terrace looking over open countryside. Civil ceremonies are registered through Warwick Register Office, and outdoor ceremonies are also possible. The venue is exclusively yours for the day, food comes from its in-house kitchen, dogs are welcome, and there are no rooms on site, so guests stay in hotels and cottages nearby.

I photographed the day documentary-style, start to finish: the quiet of the prep rooms, a ceremony with more than one happy heckle, confetti in the sunshine, and the smallest guest stealing half the frames. No shot lists, no posing — just the day as it happened.

A Primrose Hill Farm wedding, golden hour included
Primrose Hill Farm sits just outside Banbury, and in high summer its fields turn the colour of the champagne — golden-hour portraits here are as easy as opening a gate. Speeches ran on laughter, the dancefloor did the rest, and the in-house kitchen kept everyone exactly where caterers should: too well-fed to leave.

Photographing a Primrose Hill Farm wedding
Louise and George married in the white-panelled barn under trailing greenery, then walked straight out into fields baked gold in the last week of July. That is what makes this venue so good for photographs: golden-hour portraits here are as easy as opening a gate. Confetti happened outside in the sunshine, group photos went out into the fields, and the speeches and the dancefloor took care of the rest.
