A Braxted Park wedding starts before anyone says a word: a long avenue through the parkland, and a red-brick Georgian house waiting at the end of it. Leighanne & Luke married there on a Thursday in June. There was a ceremony in the orangery between two big arches of blush and blue flowers, confetti in the walled garden, and a dance floor that ended the night in heart-shaped sunglasses.
I photographed it all documentary-style: unposed, quick on my feet, there for the moments between the moments. Luke was laughing with guests at the front until Leighanne walked in with her dad, and then he wasn’t. What follows is the day in the order it happened.

A Braxted Park wedding, orangery to dance floor
Drinks were in the walled garden in full sun, with a giant Jenga standoff that drew a bigger crowd than some ceremonies. In the marquee came the speeches: dad, the maid of honour, and a best man who had the top table in pieces. Then we slipped out for golden hour down the long drive and through the old brick gatehouse arch, and came back for the first dance on the chequered floor, a sax player under the fairy lights and a party that never took its sunglasses off.
Braxted Park is one of my favourite Essex venues, and there is more about it on my Braxted Park wedding photographer page. One price, unlimited hours, so I am still there when the sunglasses come out. Check your date
