Laura & Rickesh: A Braxted Park Fusion Wedding

The Braxted Park Fusion Wedding of Laura & Rickesh in August 2016 at Braxted Park in Essex.

Braxted Park at a glance

Braxted Park is an exclusive-use estate at Great Braxted in Essex, with a Georgian house built in 1750 at the end of a tree-lined drive and 500 acres of woodland around it. It works well for a day in two parts: civil ceremonies in the Orangery, the walled garden or Woodlands, or a service in the estate’s parish church, followed by a reception in the Pavilion for up to 350 guests. Booking can be all-inclusive or dry hire, where you bring your own caterers and bar.

Having met with Laura and Rickesh nearly a year before their wedding I was confident I had met a couple who knew how their wedding was going to go. The plans were in place, the dress was chosen, the venue sorted. This was a couple who knew what they wanted.

They described their multicultural day as follows “English-Indian. We will be having a traditional white wedding and wedding breakfast followed by a vibrant, colourful Indian reception”. As soon as I read that I wanted to shoot their wedding. The amalgamation of two cultures on one day, the colour, the food! I was sold.

As you’ll see from the photos we had a brilliant day and the wedding lived up to the hype. Two separate portrait sessions, a sunset to die for and a groom who also made the wedding cake. A new career awaits Rickesh!

It was a pleasure to work alongside ‘Man with a Camera’ for the first time and their video of the big day really is a treat.

Laura & Rickesh are a wonderful couple who deserve only good things in their life and a recent addition to the family in the form of little Sanna really has added to their lives.

Kind words

“Book him up, don’t even think about it. Matt shot our wedding a few months back, he’s relaxed yet very professional. He was also great with our guests who loved having him around. His photos are interesting and we feel he really captured all elements of our day perfectly. Thanks Matt”

Here’s the story of their big day…

Photographing a fusion wedding at Braxted Park

Laura and Rickesh had a traditional white wedding and wedding breakfast, then changed for a vibrant, colourful Indian reception, so their August day had two completely different looks. That gave us two separate portrait sessions, and the evening finished with a sunset worth stopping for. Rickesh made the wedding cake himself, which earned its own photographs.
