Braxted Park wedding photographer Matt Wing: Rachael and Steve’s August 2024 wedding at Braxted Park, Essex.
Braxted Park at a glance
Braxted Park is a Georgian country house, built in 1750 at the head of a tree-lined drive, on a 500-acre wooded estate at Great Braxted in Essex, close to Colchester, Braintree and Chelmsford. It is booked exclusively, either all-inclusive or dry hire. You can marry in the Orangery, outdoors in the walled garden or in Woodlands beneath a 600-year-old tree, or in the estate’s own parish church, which dates back to 1042. Receptions are in the Pavilion, for up to 350 guests, and there are guest rooms in the converted stables.
Rachael and Steve married at Braxted Park on an August afternoon in 2024 — a music-led day from the first record of the morning to the last one on the dancefloor. Lace by Dando London, a ceremony full of their people, golden hour out in the parkland, and a dancefloor that needed no persuading.
Photographed the way I always work: documentary first, as it happened. Then gentle, guided direction for ten minutes of polished, editorial-feel portraits when the light turned golden — the rest left alone.
Choosing a Braxted Park wedding photographer? I am one of the venue’s recommended suppliers, and nine of my Braxted Park weddings are on this site, so I know where the light falls on the house, the lake and the gardens at every time of day. As your Braxted Park wedding photographer I work quietly, keep portraits short, and have 100+ previews with you the next morning. One price, £2,500 all in.
Planning a Braxted Park wedding? I know the place — and its light — well.

Braxted Park is one of the venues I know best. It is a big, generous place: the house, the lake and the gardens all give you something different, and the light changes a lot between a midday ceremony and the last hour before sunset. Knowing where to be at each point of the day is most of the job.
For Rachael and Steve that meant staying close and quiet through the morning and the ceremony, a quick, well-organised set of family photographs straight afterwards, and then ten minutes out in the parkland when the light turned golden. The rest of the evening I left alone, which is where most of the best photographs on this page came from.
Planning your Braxted Park wedding photography
Check the sunset time for your date and keep fifteen minutes free just before it. Send me your family group list a few weeks ahead so that part takes twenty to thirty minutes, not an hour. If you would like photographs by the lake, ask the venue team how your timings fit around the drinks reception. Everything is included in one price: £2,500 all in, with unlimited hours, 800+ edited images and 100+ previews the next morning. You can read exactly what is included or check if your date is free.

Braxted Park wedding photographer: questions couples ask
How much is a Braxted Park wedding photographer? With me it is £2,500 all in. That covers the whole day with no hour limit, at least 800 edited photographs, a first set of 100+ the next morning, drone photographs where the venue allows it, and a private online gallery to share with your family.
Have you photographed at Braxted Park before? Many times. Nine of my Braxted Park weddings are on this site, from intimate summer days to big black-tie celebrations, and I am one of the venue’s recommended suppliers. I know where to be for the ceremony, the drinks reception and the last of the light.
Will we have to pose? Hardly at all. There is a short family list, which I keep quick, and a few minutes of portraits with gentle direction. Everything else is unposed, photographed as it happens.
Photographing a Braxted Park wedding
For Rachael and Steve’s August wedding I stayed close and quiet through the morning and the ceremony, took the family photographs straight afterwards, then had ten minutes with them out in the parkland when the light turned golden. Braxted gives you the house, the lake and the gardens to choose from, and each looks different between a midday ceremony and the hour before sunset. The evening I left alone, and the dancefloor needed no persuading.
