Braxted Park Summer Wedding

The Braxted Park Summer Wedding of Nicola and Jason in August 2019.

Braxted Park at a glance

Braxted Park is an exclusive-use wedding venue on a 500-acre wooded estate at Great Braxted, Essex, around a Georgian house built in 1750. In summer the walled garden, with its fountains and the Knott Garden, is the setting for outdoor ceremonies. Woodlands, under a 600-year-old tree, is the other outdoor choice. Civil ceremonies indoors take place in the Orangery, and church weddings in the estate’s parish church. Receptions are in the Pavilion, for up to 350 guests, and the venue can be booked all-inclusive or dry hire.

Behind mellow brick walls lies the secret garden. In summer, filled with flowers and the murmur of fountains. In winter, a fairy world of frosted stems. By day, all is blossom and bloom while at night, the stars catch fire and the trees transform into an enchanted forest of light and shadows. Every season, every hour has its special magic at Braxted Park.

Photographing a summer wedding at Braxted Park

Nicola and Jason held their August ceremony outside in the walled garden, where the mellow brick walls and summer planting framed it without any help from me. Their portraits were taken around the gardens, and we stepped back out at sunset for a few more as the light went low and warm. Then it was inside for the cake, the first dance and a full dancefloor.
